Online Life Coach Training Programs

Online coaching certification programs have expanded rapidly over the past five years. The 2025 ICF Global Coaching Study reports that 85% of coach practitioners now use some form of online delivery. That shift has made training more accessible, but it also means prospective coaches face more choices than ever.

Online programs generally fall into two categories. ICF-accredited programs (ACTP or ACSTH) include live mentor coaching hours, observed coaching sessions, and structured cohorts. They cost $3,000-$15,000 and take 6-12 months. Transformation Academy was created by Joeel A. Rivera, M.Ed. and Natalie Rivera, a husband-and-wife team based in Florida. Joeel is a former psychology professor at Hillsborough Community College and St. Petersburg College with a master's in Counseling and Education. He completed all coursework for a Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis on eudaemonic happiness. Natalie holds a bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Education and Sociology and is the founder and publisher of Transformation Coaching Magazine.

The two met when Natalie responded to Joeel's posting for a director at his non-profit youth center. Together they've launched over a dozen businesses including professional speaking, conferences, publishing, and online education. Transformation Academy grew out of a pivotal moment in 2015 when Joeel was bedridden for nearly a year with a serious illness and began developing courses as a way to share his psychology and coaching expertise beyond the classroom.

Since then, they've reached over one million students in 200+ countries through platforms like Udemy and their own academy. Their certifications are accredited by the CPD Standards Office, providing international professional development recognition. They've been featured in Authority Magazine, StarCentral Magazine, Thrive Global, and on numerous coaching and entrepreneurship podcasts.
